Baroque Boudoir Review

In my haul, you can see basically I bought everything in the Baroque Boudoir Collection from MAC, except for the Prive lipstick.  There is nothing I hate more than tacky, opaque, pink lipstick, and so I avoided that purchase altogether.  I didn't even really give the color a chance, I'll admit, but honestly, I have tried pink lipsticks, only to find out that my skin tone will not allow it!  All of the stuff was available online at www.MacCosmetics.com a couple of weeks ago, but the Treasured lipstick I had to order off of Ebay because it was already sold out.  Actually, the last time I checked, all of the lipsticks and lip glosses were sold out.

Well, let me review the items I have: the Sheer Mystery Powder in Medium Plus is pretty good, but I wouldn't use it to take care of all of the coverage needed for my face.  It is a nice way to blot your nose and such (the packaging is just gorgeous, who wouldn't love pulling an item like that out of their purse??), but let me warn you, the amount of powder you get is pretty small in comparison with MAC's other pressed powders.  I would say that the diameter of the powder pan is about an inch and a half.  However, you receive a back-up powder pan, so it kind of makes up for the size, and I say KIND OF because the cost of this baby was $60.00.

You must think I'm crazy for spending this kind of money, but the thing is that after you have gone through all of your powder, you can keep using the compact by refilling with MAC's blush pans.  And trust me, just the look of this compact is worth it!  I just love the design!  It's feminine and bold and sexy and lacey.

Moving on, I got two of the three lipsticks.  Treasured is an okay nude, but I think it might still be too opaque for me.  In the future I will probably have to wear it on top of my chapstick to try and blend it with my natural lip color.  The Baroque Boudoir lipstick, on the other hand, is just my kind of color.  It's kind of a berry reddish dark pink, but I think it is the perfect shade for my skin tone, which is NC30.  Again, the packaging is extraordinary, so I was more than willing to dish out the $22.00 for each.

As for the lip glosses, they are just marvelous!  They are just lip glosses, though.  I would say they're more like MAC's Lustreglasses rather than MAC's Dazzleglasses.  So if you are looking for lots of sparkle, I don't think these lip glosses will be enough for you.  But I will say that the sheen to these lip glosses is just so beautiful!  And the lightest pink lip gloss, Preciousness, is very complimentary to my makeup.  Because it is a lip gloss it is not opaque at all.  It's just really pretty.  The Lap of Luxury lip gloss is more of a nude pink, and the D'Nouveau lip gloss is the perfect match for the Baroque Boudoir lipstick, color wise.  These are also $22.00, a great bargain.

They are shown below, in this order: Sheer Mystery Powder, Treasured Lipstick, Baroque Boudoir Lipstick, The Lap of Luxury Lip Gloss, Preciousness Lip Gloss, and D'Nouveau Lip Gloss.

I hope this helps!  And if you can't get your hands on these at your nearest MAC counter, I would suggest Ebay, although the sellers tend to charge you an arm and a leg nowadays.

Dazzleglasses Are Amazing!

When it comes to sparkly lip glosses, there is NOTHING that beats MAC's Dazzleglasses.  They're not only sparkly, but they also offer you that great shine, and so your lips really do dazzle in every way.  And the most unique part about MAC's Dazzleglasses is that you get to choose in what way you would like your lips to sparkle.

Let me explain: of course you have the different shades you can choose from, any lip gloss line can give you that.  But with MAC's Dazzleglasses, you can also choose with which colors you would like your lips to sparkle.  There is gold pearl, blue pearl, red pearl, pink pearl, silver pearl, violet pearl, and so on and so on.  So the color of sparkle you wear on your lips will be reflected in any light source, and I think this really does wonders to complement the rest of your makeup.

Another thing I love about MAC's Dazzleglasses is that they don't behave like regular lip glosses do.  Whenever I tried to make my lips really shiny with other lip glosses, eventually, these would run down and end up on my chin, making my chin look really greasy.  Needless to say, it was quite unpleasant.  MAC's Dazzleglasses stay put, and actually, stay there all day (unless I've eaten it off my lips, which is quite a bad habit of mine, licking my lips all the time).

Lastly, these lip glosses smell really nice, which is very important to me.  Your lips are right under your nose, why wouldn't you want your lip gloss to smell pleasant, right?  MAC's Dazzleglasses smell like, I would have to say they smell like vanilla, with a faint bit of nuttiness to it.  Seriously, this is why I wouldn't mind smelling this all day.

If you are interested in acquiring them, these lip glosses are available at www.MacCosmetics.com for $18.00 a piece.  Currently, I have them in Money, Honey (Money, Honey is one lip gloss), Extra Amps, and Roman Holiday, and these are shown in this order below, and I definitely plan to add to this small collection.

If you haven't already, I think if you gave these lip glosses a try, you would fall in love with them, too.  I hope this helps, and good luck!

Plump Your Lips

Are your lips a little on the thin side?  I guess my own lips can be categorized as normal-sized, but still, everybody wants those really full lips.  Full lips are supposedly a sign of your youth, and we could all use some of that.

Well, lately I have been trying out the Physician's Formula Plump Potion available at your nearest drug store, and let me tell you, it is wonderful!  Aside from the initial tingling sensation in the beginning, it is a great experience.  It works really well to make your lips fuller.  My lips have definitely grown in size (starting to sound like those commercials for men, I know), but seriously, this stuff does what it says it will!  It is pretty awesome, and my lips look so much better bigger and all plumped up.

On top of the fact that it plumps up your lips (a much better alternative to painful Botox injections), the Physician's Formula Plump Potion is available in a wide range of different colors.  The colors range from clear to pinks to reds to nudes to purples, so check it out!  There's something for everybody.  You can use it like a handy little lip gloss this way.  Mine is pictured below, and the color is called "Pink Potion."  It is light and shimmery, a great color for if I decide to have intense eyes that day.

I hope this helps you if you have thin lips, and even if you don't have thin lips, I think you will find that this gives a big boost to your sexy and youthful appearance.  Either way, go for it and give it a try!  I am sorry I do not remember how much it costs, but I think it is different every time I go to the drug store because they have sales going on sometimes.  Go for the youthful appearance, and good luck!

Hollywood Lights

OMG, I am very excited to tell you guys about this awesome lip gloss.  How cool is this???  It's a lip gloss, with lights built into the wand and a mirror on one side, so if you need to reapply your lip gloss in the dark, you can actually see yourself up close to do this.  Personally, I don't travel a lot at nighttime but seriously, if you are the type of person who is always on the go, I would highly recommend this lip gloss.  I just love this invention!

You can get the Hollywood Lights lip gloss from www.Avon.com.  There is a sale going on right now for this item, so it has gone from $7.99 to $6.99.  The color I have shown above is called Red Carpet.

No more driving at night and relying on your car lights to apply your lip gloss; it's much safer now because you can apply while walking from your car to your destination!  Hope this helps!
